When I was a teenager, I loved Ralph Waldo Emerson, particularly his essay on self-reliance.

To be interdependent is to depend on one another.

In April of 2019, I led a youth and adult delegation from the local congregation I serve on a service-learning trip to Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

I offer my condolences to the families who have lost loved ones… And became victims to the violence…
